Head of UK Privacy and Legal

Alex Hazell serves as Counsel for Acxiom UK, responsible for the legal and privacy affairs of the company’s UK businesses. Alex, a long-standing member of Acxiom’s EU management team, joined Acxiom in 2004 as a transactional and privacy lawyer. He has led Acxiom’s UK legal and privacy department since 2010.

Alex is an experienced commercial technology, data, adtech and privacy lawyer who advises on all aspects of technology contract law, including data protection and intellectual property law. He has negotiated the vast majority of Acxiom UK’s large solutions agreements, and in doing so has developed cutting-edge experience on how leading brands approach data protection. Alex has extensive privacy law experience under both under the old ’98 Act and serving as Acxiom’s Data Protection Officer after the development and implementation of GDPR. He provides particular insights into how data protection regulators approach audits and assessments.

Before joining Acxiom, Alex held legal positions with various organizations in the defense, telecommunications and banking sectors, including GEC Marconi, MCI Worldcom, Barclays Capital and Orange. Alex dually qualified as a barrister in 1997 then as a solicitor in 2003. He is CIPP(E) certified.
